Temporary Skill Shortage visa (subclass 482):

The TSS Visa Subclass is the replacement for the subclass 457 visa. The TSS visa program helps Australian businesses that are short of skilled Australian workers to fill the vacant positions.  

The Visa has 3 different streams, namely the short-term stream which allows you to work for upto 2 years, the long term stream which allows you to work for up to 4 years and the labour agreement stream.

Eligibility

You may be eligible to apply for the TSS visa if  an Australian employer is willing to sponsor you and the following requirements are met:

Sponsor

You must be nominated by a Standard Business Sponsor or a business that has applied for a Standard Business Sponsorship. Your employer must also lodge a nomination application.

Age

No age limit for the Subclass 482 visa

Experience:

Applicants must have at least 2 years of work experience in the nominated occupation or another relevant role.

Applicants must gain this experience within the previous 5 years before applying. Part-time work may be considered. Casual work will not be considered.

Depending on the nominated occupation and the applicant’s country of origin, a skill assessment may be required before applying for the TSS visa. Some assessing authorities require more than 2 years of experience to complete the assessment.

Occupation:

Applicants must be qualified or have experience in a skill which is listed on the relevant skilled occupation list. There are three relevant lists for the same. They are:

 

Short-Term Skilled Occupations List (STSOL)

Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL)

Regional Occupation List (ROL)

494 Visa: Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional (Provisional) Subclass 494

This Visa allows skilled workers to be sponsored by Australian employers in regional areas for up to 5 years. Regional areas include everywhere except the metropolitan areas of; Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Gold Coast and Perth.
